Oz looked frightened.. Rather, he looked like he had when he’d finally been able to return to him after the duke Vessalius locked Gilbert up in the basement.. Empty.. Oz’s words stung Gilbert deep, it wasn’t his fault things had happened. It wasn’t Oz’s either. So why was he saying those things? “No..” His voice was quiet. He wasn’t about to let Oz leave. That stupid tyrant was his friend, and he had vowed to always remain his servant. Even with.. The return of his memories, he had made a vow to this person of light in his life. There was no way he was going to go back on it.. Even if Leo made him shoot him.. He wasn’t here now, so there was no way it would happen again!

Gilbert reached out with his left hand, grabbing the young blond before he was more than a step or two away and turned him back around. His hands firmly grasping his upper arms then. “Do you really think I’m going to let you leave now?” He frowned, golden eyes watching his face. “I promised I’d stay with you and I’m not about to let you just throw our time together away like that.” What a brat. “Do you understand, Oz? Even with these memories, I’m not about to leave you.”

He wanted to slap him, to knock some sense into his stupid head. But no, he couldn’t hurt him. Not even a simple smack. He never wanted to hurt Oz, that incident.. Wasn’t his doing. It was more like when Zwei had used her Chain on him before.. But no, he refused to think about it now. “Oz you’re stuck with me.” Gilbert offered a slight smile then. “Really, Oz, you’re such a brat sometimes.”

“Wh—!?” Being grabbed and turned around wasn’t something the blonde had expected. Not at all. He wanted to say something, wanted to protest, to tell Gil to let him go, but before he could speak, the other already started doing just that, and Oz only stood there, listening to him.

Wait, so, he… He wanted to stay with him? Normally, that wouldn’t have surprised him at all, but according to what happened… No, Oz was not prepared for something like that to be said. Gilbert was always so loyal… So after finding out that Leo was Glen now, and that Gil was actually his servant, it would just have been logical to assume that the raven was going to ‘go back’ to his true master. Or rather, that was what Oz had thought at first. Because, even though he had protected him just moments before, when ‘Leo’ told him to shot him, Gilbert just… did it. And while the Chain wondered just why he had did that, another part pushed it ‘aside’ as obeying a master’s order.

Hence the confusion in his eyes as he looked up for a moment, unsure how to react. No, actually, he didn’t wanted to just throw those times away. Not with Gil, not with Alice, with no one he had meet and called his friend/family. It was more like that he felt he had to, because things were supposed to be like that.

Because of what Jack had told him.

“I-…” the blonde began, looking down again as he felt his small body tensing. What should he say now? Gilbert probably wouldn’t just let him leave, no matter what he said, that much Oz knew. But what if Jack took control of his body again? Even if Gil was a Baskerville, he was B-Rabbit. He had the power to kill the Baskervilles, and he was sure Jack would do just that should he take over again. Then again, he hadn’t really been able to ‘feel’ him in his mind lately…

The others next words made him smile in a rather ironic manner. Not that he didn’t appreciated them. He did. A whole lot, actually. But it was because of that that his mind started racing even more. Gilbert should be at Glen’s side, not his. And yet, Oz liked the idea of staying with the taller one. But could it really be like before again? Most likely not, but… He wanted to try. There was a small part in him that wanted to try. And maybe this was some sort of second chance for him…?

He was silent for a few moments, and altough he had done so at first, he had stopped trying to get out of the others grasp. After some minutes, the blonde looked up, hands reaching up to touch the others cheeks before he spoke. “Gil…” he began, before-

-he pinched the males cheeks and started pulling as hard as he could.

“Gil is a big idiot…~”

Honestly, he was half-serious about that. There were alot of things he still wanted to ask, like what Gilbert meant with ‘those memories’ exactly, but Oz knew that, when both of them digged deeper now, he wouldn’t be able to keep that small mask he had just put on again. Even though his voice didn’t sounded any ‘better’ than before.

And there was always a later, right.

“A big and useless idiot~”

destined-for-summoning:

A thought came across her mind while she was at the lake of Watra. Could she still use her magic? Getting a small orb of water, she tried the different elements on it, but nothing worked. It was only when she used Blizzard, the sphere froze, making small cracking noises. Due to the weight, it plummeted to the ground, and made Yuna pull her hand back and jump backwards.

Yuna bumped into someone while jumping back. She turned and bowed, apologizing. “Oh, my apologies. I hope you’re alright.”

As soon as he had found out that there were other islands besides the one he had awoken on as well, Oz had decided to check them out. It would be good to get to know this place, and maybe, just maybe, it would help him get his mind away from… certain things.

He stopped, however, when he reached a lake and saw a girl standing nearby. At first, Oz couldn’t make out what she was doing, so he stepped closer, curious, until he saw her using some kind of… Magic?

His curiousity got the better of him, and he walked up to her, not really paying attention to anything else but the magic spells she was using. And despite his thoughts still running wild in his head, Oz couldn’t help but think how cool that was. Was she really using magic? That was like in one of the fantasy novels he had read-!

However, his thoughts were interrupted when she stepped back, bumping into him. He himself stumbled back a little, but luckily he was able to keep his balance.

Oz blinked a few times, before he shook his head, smiling a little at her apology. A forced smile, but he was used to it. “Ah- Don’t worry about it! I’m fine~” The blonde looked at what was left from the ice-ball before turning his gaze to the girl again.

“Hey- What you just did back there, was that magic?” Cue visible curiousity in his green eyes.

Taking notes of the surroundings was like second nature by now. What with ten years of working under Pandora, sullying his hands with the blood of others, following leads.. If one did not know the area around them it would be easier to be ambushed. In fact, Gilbert was so into his ‘observing’ that he nearly missed that call from a familiar voice. The man paused for a moment, body tensing somewhat. No, he wasn’t here. His mind was playing a joke on him, there was just no way…

He turned, humouring his mind and lord behold. “O-” He started, stopping himself however. He wasn’t allowed to speak that name, he had broken his oath so long ago, he had harmed Oz. His Master. Even if it hadn’t been his intention, something had happened and he— He had shot his most precious person. Even with the re-gaining of his memories, Oz was still that one person he would call precious. “Where-” He threw caution to the wind and took the few strides over to the blond, gloved hands moving to, gently, grasp the boy’s shoulders.

“Are you alright?” He managed to ask. “You aren’t hurt anywhere?” A quick look-over told him nothing, Oz could be feeling some sort of emotional pain. After what had happened… Who wouldn’t?

As soon as Gil had turned around, Oz had looked away, not being able to look the other in the eyes. It was… Weird. Odd. Awkward. The whole atmosphere was, to him, at least. Why had he even called out to him? The blonde didn’t really knew himself. It just… Happened. He hadn’t been able to control it or hold it back. It was like a natural reaction. But why? He wasn’t Gilbert’s master anymore. He had no reason to call out to him, or to even assume that the raven would talk to him, let alone react positive to see him.

Oz would not even been surprised should his former servant point his gun at him again.

“—-!!?”

He had been so lost in those thoughts of his that he didn’t noticed Gil approaching him, and when the others hands took a grasp on his shoulders, the blonde flinched and immediately turned stiff. His head snapped up, his expression a mix of surprise and slight fear. But as soon as emerald eyes locked with gold ones, Oz looked away again. He couldn’t look him in the eyes. He just couldn’t.

“I-I…” he began, clenching his fists. Wait… Was he… Worried about him? But why? He wasn’t his servant anymore. He had no reason to worry.

No one had.

Oz was silent for a few moments, in which he only starred at the ground, trying to say something, but nothing came out. He was confused at the other’s worry, but even though he thought Gilbert shouldn’t worry about him, a part of him was… Happy.

Taking a deep breath, the blonde finally spoke, still not facing the taller male, and once again, his hand reaced up and clenched the fabric of his shirt on the spot where he had previously been wounded by the man that stood before him.

“I-I am fine.” The clenching of his shirt was stronger now. “You… You shouldn’t worry about that.” He now looked up again, altough he was still not able to look the other in the eye. His own eyes probably looked empty right now, like the ones of a puppet or something.

“You should worry about your master. Not me.” he said, now getting out of the others slight grip and taking a step backwards. “I… I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have bothered you-” His voice broke somewhat and he turned around, before speaking again. “It… It would probably be better if I go now…”

Right after those words leaved his mounth, Oz started to walk away, even though he actually didn’t wanted to. But he had to.

Because things were meant to be that way now, right.

With a jolt, he awoke. Golden eyes shooting open, body sitting up straight. The sudden rush had his mind spinning, where was he? A quick examination showed a bedroom, he got up and moved quickly to the door, hand reaching for the knob. Where was Leo? Gilbert took a step back, the extending hand instead coming up to grasp his head. Yes- Leo was still Leo- He wasn’t Glen- The— His old master was Glen.. Leo wasn’t Glen.

It took him a moment to recover, eyes focusing enough to find the door again. A more important question was- Where was Oz? Oz, his friend- He vowed to protect him and he— The raven haired man shook his head and reached for the knob, grasping it with a gloved hand and turning it. Cautious eyes searched the hallway for any signs of life but there was nothing. He wandered throughout the building, not a single person.. Gilbert grasped his shirt, teeth grinding together in frustration. What kind of mess had he been dragged into now!? All he remembered was a faint light, the mentioning of some god and then- Nothing.

There had to be more to this place. There had to be. He moved quickly, flattening his hat onto his head and heading out the front door. He was greeted with the sight of structures he hadn’t seen before, and a few other buildings… But this was no time to be dilly-dallying, he had to locate someone.. Anyone he knew and find out what exactly was going on. So he set out at a quick pace, the faster he located someone the better.

Similiar to the raven haired male, Oz was looking around the place as well, even if in his case, it was more out of curiousity than anything else. Because honestly, he didn’t expected to see anyone he knew around here. Especially not after everything that had happened, and even if he would find someone, Oz somehow had his doubts that people would be happy to see him.

Altough the thought of seeing a familiar face was quite nice, actually.

But- No- That wouldn’t be how things were supposed to be, right. With him gone, everything would be okay, wouldn’t it. Without him and his destructive powers, and without Jack. Altough the blonde hadn’t been able to ‘locate’ the Vessalius anywhere in his mind, and he couldn’t feel him, either. Odd, really, but he couldn’t put his finger on it.

Lost in thought, the Chain had somehow found his way to one of the other islands. It did looked different from the one he lived in, and once again, Oz questioned himself just how he had gotten here in the first place. Or rather, who had brought him here, and why.

But those thoughts were quickly pushed aside when emerald eyes caught sign of a very familiar figure as Oz himself stepped out of an small alley. Yes, he could only see him from behind, but that was more than enough. He wasn’t hard to recognize, after all. With that hat and the coat…

His eyes widened, and for a few moments, he just stood there, unsure what to do, starring at the others back.

“G-Gil-…?”

One part of him just wanted to turn on his heels and get out of there, as fast as he could manage. He wasn’t really scared of the other, no. But he was afraid of Gilbert’s reaction upon seeing him. Since, the last time, he-

The blonde cringed slightly at that certain memory, a hand clenching the fabric of his clothes on the spot his former servant had shot him. The injury was gone, but in a way, it still hurt-

Suddenly, his legs started to move, like they had a mind on their own, resulting in Oz rushing a few meters after the other before stopping again, and altough his voice was somewhat uncertain, he called out to the taller male, hoping he would hear him, while at same time being somewhat scared he would notice him.

GIL—-!

▶ Retrace I ; ♚ {CE Open/Intro}

Warm. That was the first thing the blonde noticed as he came to, but keept his eyes closed. It really was warm… Like the sun, he thought. And the ground felt different, too. Not as hard anymore… A part of him wanted to look around, to know where he was, because it was clear that he wasn’t in the cell anymore. The slight wind and fresh air told him as much. But the other part just wanted to keep lying there, not caring what could might happen. It wasn’t like he had a reason to care anymore, right. Alice was gone, and Gil- Gil was Glen’s servant again, just like it should be.

It was right like that, because it should be like that.

Eventually though, the curious part won, and emerald eyes opened, taking a glanze at the blondes surroundings.

Ah… Just like he thought. He was outside, but… This… This wasn’t anywhere he had been before. Some sort of gut feeling told him that. Oz sat up, a bit surprised at the fact that he wasn’t tied up anymore, and tried to get a better look at the area. There were alot of different plants, and ivy on the house walls. Was he in some sort of village? But how did he get here? The last thing he remembered was ‘chatting’ with Lotti while being tied up, trapped in a cell with stones that sealed his powers.

To say he wasn’t confused would have been a lie. Then again, this could be just another dream. But it seemed peacfull, quiet, and calm. And somehow, he liked that, and if this really was but a mere dream, then the Chain didn’t wanted it to end all that soon.

For a while, Oz just sat there in the grass, starring up to the sky, his mind pretty much completely absent. Everything that had happened previously… Felt like a bad dream, unreal. And as much as he wished it was exactly that, he knew it was not, and it made him smile in a very ironic way.

The blonde shook his head, and after a few more minutes, got out his golden pocket watch and opened it, the clock giving a small ‘Click’ noice as he did so, only to start playing a nostalgic melody as the boy looked at the time. How much time had passed, anyway…? He didn’t knew. It had all happened so fast, and even though it all happened on just one day, it felt like much, much more.

However, his thoughts were interrupted as he noticed footsteps nearby, the pocket watch still open, playing its melody. Turning his head, Oz looked at the person, blinking a few times and closing the watch again, making the song come to a sudden end.

“Don’t act like this isn’t a big deal—”

“You can’t just run off on your own like that and leave me behind. What if something happened to you?Worried? More like mini-heart attack. It wasn’t the greatest feeling when he lost sight of the blond-haired tyrant. Well.. No matter, he was found, so.. “Just don’t do it again, alright?”

“Yeah yeah, alright, sorry.” How often did he had heard this ‘lecture’ now? Often enough that he had stopped counting. It wasn’t like it didn’t mattered to him, but hearing this over and over… And it wasn’t like he had planned that the other loses sight of him. “I won’t do it again.”

Did he said that to calm the other down? Yes.

Would he stop running off now? Most likely not, but Oz didn’t planned to just do it again without a good reason. Yet.

“Geez Gil, calm down. I’m fine, see?” a small gesticulation as if showing the other that there really was not a single scratch on him. “Well okay, that one guy shoved me and I hit my head, but-” Oz cut himself in mid-sentence. Eh, no, telling him that may have been not such a good idea. “B-But I’m fine, really!”

The last thing he wanted was Gilbert getting worked up about that. It was a small thing, but he knew his servant. And his ‘slight’ overprotective-ness.

“Ah, Gil!” Yep, he was completely ignoring the others tone of voice.

“I was just looking around the place a bit. Why, where you worried about me~?” It wouldn’t surprise him, honestly. It was Gil, after all. When was he not worried about Oz’s well being?
